Jazz Band meets after school on Wednesdays

Description
The PCEP Jazz Ensemble is a traditional 17-piece big band which performs a wide variety of standard and contemporary jazz ensemble literature. The jazz ensemble is coached by Jonathan Ovalle and directed by Marc Whitlock.

From the swing & dance band music of the 20's and 30's, to contemporary rock, funk and fusion transcriptions, to the pantheon of Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Cuban jazz, the Jazz Ensemble is dedicated to offering a wide variety of music to its listening audience. In addition to the performance opportunities of the ensemble, the ensemble offers its members a vehicle to explore and learn about jazz history, jazz theory, and about both melodic and free improvisation.

The PCEP Jazz Ensemble is an extra-curricular ensemble comprised of students in both the marching band and day-band programs by audition only. The ensemble meets on Wednesday evenings after school in the months following the conclusion of the marching band season and traditionally performs one annual concert as well as providing music for a number of off-campus events and community functions.
